The presentation will outline how evolving legal and organizational expectations around diversity, equity, and inclusion affect the overall investigation and conclusion. Participants will also gain clarity on how DEI changes intersect with investigative practices and how to navigate claims pertaining to these DEI practices.

Janine Amity is a highly experienced workplace investigator with over 20 years of expertise working both domestically and internationally in the following areas: banking, mining, manufacturing, healthcare, insurance, waste management, hospitality, and professional services. Most recently, she dedicated 8 years at PwC, where she led investigations related to Human Resource practices, sexual harassment, retaliation, discrimination, wrongful termination, and pay equity across the U.S. and 150 global territories. During her tenure, Janine assisted in establishing an investigations center of excellence, collaborating with employment attorneys worldwide to create standardized procedures, training, and communications for all investigative matters. She also partnered with senior leadership and Human Resource professionals to assess and implement cultural standards, ensuring alignment with the Code of Conduct. Janine is also trained in the forensic experiential trauma and neurodivergent interview techniques.
Maureen is a shareholder in the San Francisco law office of Ogletree Deakins. In addition to many years in private practice as a trusted advisor and employment litigator, Maureen served as global in-house employment counsel for a multi-national engineering and construction firm. With over 25 years of experience conducting workplace investigations, she is often called upon to conduct investigations into allegations against members of the C-suite, founders, employees in the HR or Legal departments and other sensitive positions. She has conducted investigations into claims of sexual harassment and assault, race discrimination, sex discrimination, disability discrimination, and retaliation. She also conducts culture assessments to uncover concerns among members of the workforce.
Meagan Bainbridge is a Weintraub shareholder and member of the Labor & Employment and Litigation groups.
She exclusively practices employment law and related litigation in state and federal courts and before various administrative agencies. Additionally, she provides advice and counsel to employers concerning their workplace policies, practices, and personnel decisions. Meagan regularly assists employers in all aspects of their employment relationship with their employees, including on such matters as recruiting and hiring; employment agreements and compensation plans; protection of trade secrets; wage and hour laws; independent contractor status; performance standards and disciplinary actions; privacy; leaves of absence and reasonable accommodations; preventing discrimination, harassment, and retaliation; preventing and responding to theft and embezzlement; reductions in force, terminations, and layoffs; and compliance with other state and federal employment laws. Meagan is a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) provides impartial workplace investigations.
Meagan also regularly defends employers against employment claims for breach of contract, discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, unfair business practices, violation of wage and hour laws, as well as numerous other tort and statutory employment law causes of action. She has extensive experience litigating class actions. Substantive areas of expertise include California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and the California Labor Code.
