Michael Olsen is a sixth-year associate in the employment and labor practice of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP and is based in the firm’s Orange County, California office. His practice includes labor and employment litigation, workplace investigations and counseling, including defending employers in federal and state courts and in front of administrative entities. Prior to joining Manatt, Michael was an associate attorney at a law firm in Irvine, California. He litigated complex wage and hour class actions and single-plaintiff discrimination matters, represented employers before state and federal administrative agencies and counseled employers on employment law issues, and advised on labor and employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions. During law school, Michael served as a law clerk for the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, where he assisted indigent veterans, was an extern in the civil division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California, and served as an extern for the Honorable Thelton E. Henderson, United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Michael has been published in the Daily Journal and WestLaw on developments related to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as previously being published in the Hastings Law Journal on the ADA in the workplace. Michael was named on Best Lawyers’ Ones to Watch for Labor and Employment Law – Management as an attorney with 5-9 years of outstanding professional excellence in private practice based on a national peer-review survey.
