Stan Burke’s law enforcement career spans over three decades, beginning as a police officer and investigator with the Maryland National-Capital Park Police. His journey subsequently led him to the FBI, where for he served as a special agent across the Phoenix, Dallas, and Albuquerque Divisions. There, he tackled a wide array of complex cases including homicides, robberies, kidnappings, child abductions, sexual assaults, and organized crime. In 2005, Stan transitioned to the FBI Academy to instruct Interviewing and Interrogation to both new agents and National Academy students. His expertise evolved further when he assumed the role of unit chief for the FBI’s Law Enforcement Communication Resources Unit. Working with the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit, Stan's leadership culminated in the establishment of the FBI’s Joint Communication Exploitation Research Team (JCERT), a pivotal resource that used Investigative Statement Analysis to analyze statements for law enforcement agencies throughout the world. Stan's contributions were recognized in 2010 when he received the FBI Director’s Award for successfully resolving major cold-case investigations through Investigative Statement Analysis. Following his retirement from the FBI, Stan leveraged his expertise and currently provides specialized training and consultation services in interviewing, interrogation, and Investigative Statement Analysis to diverse clientele including law enforcement, intelligence, military, and private security sectors globally. Stan's influence extends beyond his consulting work; he has lectured at prestigious institutions such as University of Virginia, Brigham Young University, and Georgetown University. He has provided his insight and expertise to national television programs and podcasts, and has been published in numerous law enforcement-related journals and magazines. In 2004 he published his first book, Where Truth Lies: Understanding What People Are Really Saying.
