Session Description:
One of the most challenging aspects of workplace investigations can be navigating high conflict behavior from participants. Whether this behavior is from complainants, respondents, witnesses, clients or others, it is often stressful and confounding for the investigator and can impact the integrity of the process. Cherolyn Knapp is a conflict resolution consultant, mediator, trainer, workplace investigator and lawyer based in Victoria, BC, Canada. She has conducted numerous workplace investigations in various public, private and non-profit sector organisations, under unionised and non-union environments. Cherolyn is a trainer and facilitator in relation to conflict resolution, diversity and inclusion, high conflict situations, leading people and improving team functioning. In addition, she provides training and coaching as an associate of the High Conflict Institute.
Peter Matukas is an employment lawyer & external workplace investigator, founder of Matukas Workplace Investigations and is based in Toronto, ON. Peter has been practicing in the area for over 15 years, joined AWI in 2018 and received the AWI-CH designation in 2018 as well. Peter regularly presents upon workplace investigations and has authored numerous articles upon workplace investigations. Peter is currently the convenor of the AWI Toronto Local Circle as well as a co-convenor of the CAWI National Circle for Canada. Peter is also a member of the AWI Webinars committee.
Dr. Jason Walker is an internationally recognized, award-winning scholar, practitioner, and author, widely known for his influential voice in trauma-informed leadership and workplace mental health. A contributing writer for Forbes, he leads the Graduate Programs in Health and Wellness Psychology and Industrial-Organizational Psychology at Adler University, and serves as a clinical adjunct professor in the School of Health and Social Sciences at City University of Seattle Master of Counselling Program.
