The program will provide guidance to investigators who conduct workplace investigations in educational institutions. The webinar will
identify when the requirements of Title IX are triggered, help investigators navigate the intersection of the Title IX process and typical
HR investigation processes in unionized and non-unionized environments, and provide practical tips for investigating and resolving
Title IX workplace complaints as efficiently and effectively as possible.
At the collusion of this program, participants will be able to:
1) Be able to issue spots when Title IX regulatory processes must be applied to a workplace investigation
2) Understand where Title IX requirements may require deviation from a general HR investigation process,
3) Understand the differences between a Title IX investigation report and other workplace investigation reports.
All registrants will have acces to a recording of the webinar 48 hours after the live program.

Kate Nearpass, AWI-CH is the co-founder of Nearpass & Koegel PLLC, a law firm based in Rochester, NY with a focus on conducting independent workplace and campus investigations. Kate's practice includes conducting impartial investigations for a variety of organizations, including higher education institutions, nonprofit organizations, and municipalities. Kate also has a robust higher ed practice and, in addition to conducting Title IX investigations, regularly serves as Title IX hearing officer, Title IX appellate officer, interim Title IX Coordinator, and interim director of college and university equity and compliance offices. Prior to launching Nearpass & Koegel, Kate spent over a decade in higher education as in-house labor and employment counsel, Title IX coordinator, and AVP for Civil Rights Compliance. Kate began her career as a litigator, practicing civil litigation and labor and employment law with both boutique and national firms. Kate earned her J.D. from Albany Law School and her undergraduate degree from Mount Holyoke College. She is licensed as an attorney and private investigator in New York.
Kathy Eppright, AWI-CH is a partner with Andre Morris & Buttery on the Central Coast of California. She has been practicing more than 25 years with a focus on employment litigation, counseling and workplace investigations. Kathy is frequently retained as an external workplace investigator by In House Counsel or counsel for California businesses and public entities. She is a Certificate Holder from the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) and been part-time and full-time faculty at the AWI Institutes since 2018. Kathy is the Convener for the AWI Central Coast local circle and a member of the AWI Webinars and Seminars Committee.
